Who We Are
INYE means ONE with knowledge and understanding of oneness and the interconnectedness of all.
Ancient Future healing through Africa’s knowing
INYE is a community led organisation that knows the wisdom of African indigenous practices for mental well-being.
With ‘Ubuntu’ at the heart of our work knowing that ‘separation’ is humanities greatest sickness we take a holistic approach to supporting individuals well-being promoting a sense of interconnectedness and collective well-being among participants through the power of ceremony.
INYE enables individuals to explore personal experiences and community issues via various artistic mediums and somatic embodiment and therapeutic explorations. Fostering improved personal relationships and cultivating a life of greater meaning and fulfilment for individuals and communities.
INYE collaborates with practitioners, artists and musicians whose work is deeply rooted or inspired by traditional African practices. We create sacred healing spaces through interactive dynamic workshops, retreats and performances with a modern day ceremonial approach that inspires self-reflection, cultivates self-awareness and connection.
With the transformative power of indigenous and modern African arts including music, dance and spoken word knowing these elements are crucial for nurturing the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health of individuals and communities.
INYE’s overarching goals are to elevate African perspective and approaches as vital tools for mental health, broaden the recognition of African arts in wider cultural and wellness arenas, introduce well-being interventions from a non-Eurocentric viewpoint, improve access to these cultural interventions within communities, and advocate for a nuanced integration and understanding of African perspectives on mental health diversifying well-being spaces.
